Machine Technology


Program Description

The Machine Technology program provides the following training and experience. Students learn how to:

  • Use mathematics to compute problems relating to work dimensions, tooling and feeds and speeds of machining

  • Operate lathes, power saws, shapers, milling machines, grinders, drills and computer operated equipment (i.e., CNC and CIM)

  • Use precision measuring and heat treatment of various metals

  • Read blueprints

  • Layout machines and parts

  • Use all types of hand and computer controlled machines

Careers in the Machine Technology Field

  • Machinists

  • Tool Grinders, Filers

  • Numerical Control Machine Tool Operators and Tenders, Metal and Plastic

  • Multiple Machine Tool Setters, Operators, and Tenders, Metal and Plastic

Articulation Agreements

Students who meet all the requirements of the Tech Prep Program will receive credit and admission preference into these Post Secondary Programs:

  • Penn College of Technology (an affiliate of Penn State)


Certifications

Students in the Machine Technology program are eligible for:

  • Pennsylvania Skills Certificate

  • NIMS Machining Level I
