Early Childhood Education


Program Description

The Early Childhood Education program provides the following training and experience:

  • Different stages of growth and development in small children

  • Nutrition

  • Program Planning and management

  • Safety

  • Behavior guidance and play activities

  • Child abuse and neglect

  • Laws, regulations and policies relating to child care service

  • Parent-child personal relationships

  • Practical experience with onsite preschool (180 hours per year)


Careers in the Early Childhood Education Field

  • Education Administrators, Preschool and Child Care Center/Program

  • Preschool Teachers, except Special Education

  • Child Care Workers

Articulation Agreements

Students who meet all the requirements of the Tech Prep Program will receive credit and admission preference into these Post Secondary Programs:

  • Mount Aloysius College

  • Penn College of Technology (an affiliate of Penn State)

Certifications

Students in the Early Childhood Education program are eligible for:

  • Pennsylvania Skills Certificate

  • CDA Ready Certification
