Cosmetology

Program Description

The Cosmetology program provides the following training and experience. Students learn how to:

• Apply a variety of beauty treatments including the care and beautification of hair, complexion and hands.


• Give shampoos, rinses and scalp treatments.


• Set, cut, dye, tint and bleach hair.


• Style hair with a permanent wave.


• Identify anatomy, hygiene, sanitation, and bacteriology.


• Manage a salon to include record keeping and customer relations.

Careers in the Cosmetology Field

• Hairdressers, Hairstylists, and Cosmetologists


• Manicurists and Pedicurists

Articulation Agreements

Students who meet all the requirements of the Tech Prep Program will receive credit and admission preference into these Post Secondary Programs:

• Penn College of Technology (an affiliate of Penn State)

Certifications

Students in the Cosmetology program are eligible for:

• Pennsylvania Skills Certificate


• PA State Boards in Cosmetology
