Automotive Technology


Program Description

The Auto Body program provides the following training and experience:

  • Service and maintain all types of automobiles and light trucks

  • Diagnose and test problems in automobiles and light trucks

  • Use a computer to analyze malfunctions in engines, fuel, electrical, cooling and brake systems, and drive train and suspension systems

  • Repair malfunctions in engines, fuel, electrical, cooling and brakes systems, and drive train and suspension systems

  • Use technical repair information and library

Careers in the Automotive Technology Field

  • Automotive Service Technician and Mechanic

  • Automotive Specialty Technician

  • Automotive Master Mechanics

Articulation Agreements

Students who meet all the requirements of the Tech Prep Program will receive credit and admission preference into these Post Secondary Programs:

  • Penn College (an affiliate of Penn State University)

  • Allegany College of Maryland

Certifications

Students in the Automotive Technology program are eligible for:

  • Pennsylvania Skills Certificate

  • Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection Examination

  • S/P2 Safety Certification

  • Section 609 Certification for Refrigerant Recycling/Recovery

  • Certified Emissions Inspector
