Automotive Technology
Program Description
The Auto Body program provides the following training and experience:
- Service and maintain all types of automobiles and light trucks
- Diagnose and test problems in automobiles and light trucks
- Use a computer to analyze malfunctions in engines, fuel, electrical, cooling and brake systems, and drive train and suspension systems
- Repair malfunctions in engines, fuel, electrical, cooling and brakes systems, and drive train and suspension systems
- Use technical repair information and library
Careers in the Automotive Technology Field
- Automotive Service Technician and Mechanic
- Automotive Specialty Technician
- Automotive Master Mechanics
Articulation Agreements
Students who meet all the requirements of the Tech Prep Program will receive credit and admission preference into these Post Secondary Programs:
- Penn College (an affiliate of Penn State University)
- Allegany College of Maryland
Certifications
Students in the Automotive Technology program are eligible for:
- Pennsylvania Skills Certificate
- Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection Examination
- S/P2 Safety Certification
- Section 609 Certification for Refrigerant Recycling/Recovery
- Certified Emissions Inspector
