Instructor: Melony Gaudlip
Melony Gaudlip is a certified Vocational Education Teacher with 16 years experience as a vocational teacher at the Somerset County Technology Center. Mrs. Gaudlip also has 11 years prior experience as a hair stylist and owner/operator of a beauty salon. Mrs. Gaudlip has her State Cosmetology License, a BS Degree in Vocational Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Counseling from Liberty University.
This course is an instructional program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills related to experiences in a variety of beauty treatments including the care and beautification of the hair, complexion and hands. Instruction includes training in giving shampoos, rinses and scalp treatments; hair styling, setting, cutting, tinting and bleaching; permanent waving; facials;manicuring and hand and arm massaging. Bacteriology, anatomy, hygiene, sanitation, salon manangement including record keeping and customer relations are also emphasized. Instruction is designed to qualify students for the licensing examination.
Required Supplies/ Shop Equipment
Students who enroll in a career and technology program at SCTC are required to provide certain supplies and/or safety equipment needed for full participation in their program. The items remain the property of the student and may be taken home at the end of the school year. Required items for the Cosmetology Program are listed below:
