Instructor:  Mr. Frank Holtz 

Mr. Holtz is a certified Vocational Instructor with 3 years of experience as the Auto Technology Teacher at Somerset County Technology Center. Mr. Holtz is Certified ASE Technician in Brakes, Steering and Suspension, Electrical Systems, Engine Repair and Engine Performance. He also has 35 years prior experience in the Auto Technology Industry. This program is NATEF Certified.

Course Description

This course is certified by the National Automotive Training and Education Facility (NATEF).  This course prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to engage in the servicing and maintenance of all types of automobiles and light trucks. This program includes instruction in the diagnosis and testing, including computer analysis of malfunctions in and repair of engines, fuel, electrical, cooling and brake systems and drive train and suspension systems. Instruction is also given in the adjustment and repair of individual components and systems such as cooling systems, drive trains, and fuel system components. This course also includes the use of technical repair information and the State safety inspection procedures.

Required Supplies/Shop Equipment

Students who enroll in a career and technology program at SCTC are required to provide certain supplies and/or safety equipment needed for full participation in their program.  The items remain the property of the student and may be taken home at the end of the school year.  Required items for the Auto Technology Program are listed below:

Leather work shoes
